Articles VI - VII
ARTICLE VI FINANCE
Section 1. A. ACTIVE AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: The annual dues of the Association shall be determined by the Board of
Directors of MRTA.
B. LIFE MEMBERSHIP of MRTA shall be determined by the same board.
C DUAL MEMBERSHIP Members shall be encouraged to take life membership in both MRTA and ORTA.
D Life ORTA MEMBERSHIP shall be encouraged & dues set by ORTA Board)
Section 2. The Association shall provide for such audit and control of its finances as are necessary for complete accounting
and safekeeping.
Section 3. A. LIFE MEMBER-MEMORIAL FUND: A life member-memorial fund shall be maintained. The money shall be invested
in federally insured accounts by the treasurer and president with the approval of the Board of Directors. Only
interest income from this fund shall be used for operating expenses or scholarships. Upon death of a member,
the current amount of yearly dues shall be released from this fund to operating expenses.
B. SCHOLARSHIP FUND: The MRTA Scholarship Fund shall be maintained to receive monies specifically designated
for scholarships. The money shall be invested in federally insured accounts by the treasurer and president with
the approval of the Board of Directors. The treasurer shall maintain copies of wills and bequests and the items as
listed therein.
Section 4 The FISCAL YEAR of the Association shall be January 1 to December 31, inclusive.

Section 1. The elected officers of the Association shall be President, First and Second Vice-Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer,

A. President
1. Preside at all general meetings and meetings of the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and special
committees.
2. Appoint, with approval of Executive Committee, chairs of all standing and special committees.
3. Serve as ex-officio member of all committees except Nominating.
4. Shall appoint an Historian.
5. Shall appoint a Parliamentarian, who shall be chairman of the By-Laws Committee.
6. Forward to ORTA appropriate information, including names and addresses of the new officers and committee
chairman.
B. First Vice-President
1. Serve as Program Chairman.
2. Preside at all meetings in the absence of the President, and act for him/her when the President is absent
or disabled.
3. Perform such other duties as are requested by the President or the Board of Directors.
4. Assume the Presidency in case a vacancy in this office should occur.
5. Is expected to accept the Presidency if at all possible.
C. Second Vice-President
1. Serve as Membership Chairman.
2. Provide information to prospective retirees regarding MRTA and ORTA
3. Preside at meetings in the absence of the President and the First Vice-President.
4. Perform such other duties as are assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.
D. Secretary
1. Record and keep records in permanent form of the minutes of all general meetings and meetings of the Board of
Directors.
2. Have available at all meetings, for reference, a copy of the By-Laws and a list of Officers and Committees.
3. Have charge of such correspondence as is delegated by the President or Board of Directors.
4. Perform such other duties as are requested by the president.
