ARTICLE II Purpose
A. To cooperate with the Ohio (Retired) Teachers Association (ORTA)

ARTICLE IV AFFILIATION
The Mahoning Retired Association shall be affiliated with the Ohio (Retired) Teachers
Association in joint membership (dual Membership) and give recognition to the work of the
National Retired Teachers Division of AARP.

ARTICLE VIII BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Section 3 Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be held four times a year,
(February), April, August, and October, and at such other times as the President

ARTICLE X ELECTION AND TERM OF OFFICE
Section 1. Nomination. A Nominating Committee (of seven (7)) members: (three
(3)) to be appointed by the Board of Directors, one (1) the Chair appointed by the President before
the (September) meeting of the odd year, at which time (three (3)) more shall be elected by the
members at the (September) meeting.
*A Nominating Committee of five (5) members, two (2) to be appointed by the Board
of Directors, one (1) the Chair appointed by the President before the June meeting of the odd year,
at which time two (2) more shall be elected by the members at the June meeting.
Section 3. TERM OF OFFICE. All officers shall be installed at the December meeting
and serve for a term of two years. They shall be eligible for re-election for one (two-year) term
only. An exception may be granted by the Board of Directors for (the offices of Secretary
and Treasurer.)

ARTICLE XII MEETINGS AND QUORUM
Section 2 QUORUM - (seventy) members shall constitute a quorum.

ARTICLE XIII ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP - annual scholarship(s), to be taken from
the Scholarship Fund (managed through the YSU foundation) and augmented, if necessary, from
the General fund shall be given to an outstanding (fourth) year student(s) who is(are) entering
the teaching field. The recipients(s), students(s) from Youngstown State School of Education,
shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
* ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP - annual scholarship(s), to be taken from the
Scholarship Fund (managed through the YSU Foundation) and augmented, if necessary, from
the General Fund shall be given to an outstanding third/fourth year student(s) who is(are)
entering the teaching field. The recipient(s), student(s) from Youngstown State School of Education,
shall be chosen by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE XIV IN MEMORIAM/REMEMBRANCE
Section 1. IN-MEMORIAM. The John M. Knapick Family(has underwritten the cost
of the in-memoriam book which is selected for) the main branch of the Public Library of
Younstown and Mahoning County (in cooperation with the director of the library. The
selection will contain a name plate with the the names of deceased MRTA members during each
calendar year. This procedure has been followed since its inception in 1996. Although a CD
has been established) in the name of the John M. Knapick Memorial Fund, this in-memoriam
fund shall continue to hold a place in the Association's budget with a (0.00) amount () as directed
by the (Finance Committee.)
*Section 1. IN 1996 the John M. Knapick Family made a donation in the name of the
John M. Knapick Memeorial Fund. Every calendar year MRTA will make a memorial gift to the
main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. A yearly list of the
deceased MRTA members will be included in the library's digital display of memorial gifts. This
In-memoriam fund, shall continue to hold a place in the Association's budget with a $50.00
amount or as directed by the Board of Directors.
ARTICLE XV AMENDMENTS
Section 3. These amendments shall become effective immediately upon adoption
(provided, however, nothing in these amendments impair any acts or poceedings heretofore
underaken by or on behalf of this Association.)
