President Susan Harris called the meeting to order. Georgia Barkett read a poem and led the group in prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Gayle Herron led the singing of God Bless America. Seated at the head table were Susan Harris, Phil Butto, Debbie Mettee, Angie Bilkie, Mary Grace Fowler, and Cathy Hergenrother. Phil Butto introduced Cathy Hergenrother, Director of Community Impact at the Davis YMCA. Cathy shared information about the Silver Sneakers Program and some of the other activities for older adults available through the YMCA.
June's donation to Big Brothers/Big Sisters was $281. The community service collection today goes to the YWCA Young Women with Bright Futures Project.
New members (don and Jenny Koma and Lynda Metzler) were introduced.
Susan Harris shared that she is the new Northeast Ohio ORTA District Representative.
June Logan as chair of the nominating committee asked for nominations from the floor for three members to serve on the nominating committee. The members are: Sally Winsen, nominated by Georgia Barkett and seconded by Martha Lopez; Betty Washington, nominated byCarol Glenn and seconded by Mary Grace Fowler; and Jeanne Vild, nominated by Ruth Cole and seconded By Nancy Lynn. They will join the nominating committee members appointed by the executive board. They include, June Logan(chair), Debbie Haverstock, Peggy Bennett and Phil Butto. Positions for the 2020-2022 biennium include President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The slate will be voted on in November and installed during the December meeting.

MEETING MINUTES, December 11, 2019
1st Vice-President Phil Butto called the meeting to order. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America. Georgia Barkett provided the invocation and grace. The meeting was suspended for lunch. During dessert, Phil introduced Tom Ruggieri, director of bands at Boardman High School. Tom presented the Jazz Band Ensemble 1. The group entertained us with holiday favorites and jazz tunes. Following the jazz band performance, Phil introduced Majors Paul and Sherry Moore from the Salvation Army. They spoke about the need in our area, and thanked membership in advance for their continued support. $577.00 was collected through MRTA Community Service and donated to the Salvation Army.
Carol Kinsey, ORTA Regional Director, performed the installation of officers for the 2020-22 biennium. Phil Butto - President,, Susan Harris - 1st Vice-president, Ruth Frankenburg - 2nd Vice-president, Barbara Ade - Secretary, and Debra Mettee - Treasurer took their offices and will assume (or continue) their duties in January 2020. Debra Mettee, treasurer, announced that $205.00 had been collected for scholarship and $421.00 was donated through the November Community Service collection to the American Legion. Debra also stated that MRTA has 677 lifetime members and 100 paid yearly members. $148 was collected at the November meeting for the 50/50 raffle. There was no raffle during the December meeting. Linda Metzler won the free luncheon for the March 2020 meeting. Janet Wright, Sue DePinta, Patty Scalzo and Shirley Rorabaugh won gifts. The meeting adjourned at 1;15 PM.
