Association By-Laws are the basic ground rules for conducting the business and programs of MRTA. The may be changed only by the vote of the body.
ARTICLE I NAME
The name of this Association shall be the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association, hereafter referred to as
"the Association" and as the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association (MRTA).
ARTICLE II PURPOSE
The purpose of this Association shall be:
A. To cooperate with the Ohio Retired Teachers Association (ORTA).
B. To maintain and improve the social, educational, economic and recreational projects and programs of this
Association.
C. To help retired teachers maintain identity with the teaching profession and to further the cause of education,
and to provide opportunity for meaningful contact with friends and associates of the active teaching years.
D. To gather and disseminate information of value to members.
E. To respond to community needs and to encourage retired teachers to contribute their talents and experience
for the decision-making processes in their local communities.
F To familiarize retired and active teachers with the benefits of membership in the Local and State Associations
and the National Retired Teachers Division of AARP.
ARTICLE III GOVERNANCE
The Mahoning Retired Teachers Association shall be governed by its officially adopted By-Laws. These By-Laws shall in no
conflict with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
ARTICLE IV AFFILIATION
The Mahoning Retired Association shall be affiliated with the Ohio Retired Teachers Association in joint membership (dual
membership) and give recognition to the work of the National Retired Teachers Division of AARP.
ARTICLE V MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to any retired or former educator or administrator who has been employed in any public
educational institution, the spouse of a retired teacher or deceased member.
The name of this Association shall be the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association, hereafter referred to as
"the Association" and as the Mahoning Retired Teachers Association (MRTA).
